  • Nio wireless earphones and charging case
  • Interchangeable ear tips in four different sizes: XS, S, M & L
  • Type-C USB-cable

Before getting started

⚠️  Sudio Nio is delivered with a protective film covering the charging connectors between the earbuds and charging case. The film needs to be removed in order for the earbuds to charge.

The earbuds will likely have some existing battery charge, however it is recommended to fully charge Nio before using it for the first time.

Turning Nio on or off

Nio powers up as soon as the earbuds are removed from the charging case, as indicated by the LED lights on the earbuds and the audio feedback 🔈 Power On.

Similarly, Nio is turned off when placing the earbuds back into the case.

You can also use the touch controls to power the earbuds on or off. Do this by holding the touch control for 7 seconds on either earbud.

Nio enters pairing mode when the earbuds are removed from the charging case. Open the Bluetooth settings on your device and wait for Nio and the device to locate each other, then select Sudio Nio when it appears in the list. You will hear 🔈 Pairing Successful, confirming that the devices are paired with each other!

Charging the batteries

Jump to complete guide

There are three batteries in total on Nio; one in the charging case and one in each earbud.

The Nio earbuds charge their batteries automatically when placed inside the charging case, this is indicated by the LED lights on the earbuds. Make sure to first remove the protective film which is covering the charging connectors.

The Nio case is charged with a Type-C USB-cable. When the case is charging, you will see a light below the Sudio logo. It is recommended to use the Sudio Type-C USB-cable that's included in the package, but the charging case may be compatible with third-party Type-C USB-cables as well.

Nio - User guide - Connectivity & Pairing

 Pairing Nio with a device

mceclip0.png

  1. Remove the Nio earbuds from the charging case and fit them inside your ears.
  2. Go into the Bluetooth settings on your device. The Nio earbud LED lights are flashing white and red while scanning for available devices.
    • For iOS (iPhone), go to the Settings app and select Bluetooth.
    • For Android, go to the Settings app, then select Connections followed by Bluetooth.
    • For Windows 10, click on the Start button, select Settings followed by Devices, and then Bluetooth and other devices.
    • For macOS, go to the System Preferences app and select Bluetooth.
  3. Locate and select Sudio Nio in the Bluetooth list on your device.
  4. When paired you will hear the audio feedback 🔈 Pairing Successful.

If you would like to use only one of the earbuds, you can do so by just taking out the one you want to use from the charging case.

If Nio has previously been paired with your preferred device, simply remove the earbuds from the charging case and they will automatically connect, so long as Bluetooth is activated on the device and Nio has not been paired with a different device more recently.

Sudio Nio will automatically turn on when you lift out the earbuds of the charging case, and it will turn off when you put them back in the case. You can also turn them off by pressing the touch button for 6 seconds until you hear "power off”.
In order to turn them on, put them back in the charging case and simply take them out of the charging case.

Device compatibility

Nio uses Bluetooth version 5.0 which is compatible with a wide range of Bluetooth devices. The paired device does not need to be the same version, but similar versions are more likely to maintain a strong connection.

Signal interference

Some wireless devices may interfere with each others' signals, such as WiFi-routers, smartwatches, other Bluetooth devices, etc. If they operate within the same frequency, you may experience interference such as dropped sound and glitching. The easiest way to locate the cause of interference is by maintaining one connection between devices at the same time or take your Nio and connected device outdoors to see if the interference clears.

Nio can be up to a maximum of 10 meters (32 ft) from the paired device, but the connection may break if they are blocked by walls or similar objects.

Pairing with multiple devices

Nio can remember up to 8 paired devices, which means that you don't have to follow the pairing step every time you switch between devices. When Nio is turned on, it will automatically connect to the device most recently connected.

If you want to reconnect to one of your previously paired devices, please disconnect Sudio Nio first from the device you are currently using, and click "Sudio Nio" in the list of the next device you want to connect.

Sudio Nio supports multi-pairing, but you can only play audio from one device at a time. (Multi-point connection is not supported.)

Nio - User guide - Factory reset

If your Sudio Nio is behaving unexpectedly or you are having difficulty pairing, please follow the factory reset steps below.

    1. Turn off the wireless connection on your device.
    2. Put both earbuds in the charging case and close the case.
    3. Forget “Sudio Nio” in the wireless connection list on your device. Sudio Nio should no longer be synced to your device. If you have connected Sudio Nio to multiple devices, forget them from all other devices as well.
    4. Press and hold the button on the bottom of the charging case for 3 seconds.
    5. Turn on the wireless connection on your device and select “Sudio Nio” in the list to pair it with your device.

Nio - User guide - Battery levels and management

Nio has three built-in batteries; one inside the charging case and one in each earbud. The battery inside the case is used to charge the earbuds, while the included USB Type-C cable is used to charge the case.

⚠️  Sudio Nio is delivered with a protective film covering the charging connectors between the earbuds and charging case. The film needs to be removed in order for the earbuds to charge.

Charging and play times

The earbuds can be used for approximately 5.5 hours on one charge, with up to 20 hours in total before the case needs to be recharged.

Each battery takes approximately 90 minutes to fully charge. Also 15 minutes of charging gives 1 hour of playtime.

It takes 150 minutes to charge the earbuds and the charging case from 0% battery. When both the earbuds and the charging case have no battery left, charge the charging case without the earbuds for 15 mins first. Then, put the earbuds back into the charging case to start charging them. This is to prevent Sudio Nio from rebooting in a loop while charging, at which point they will no longer function correctly.

Charging methods

The Nio case can be charged with a USB Type-C cable, wireless charging is not supported. We recommend using the Sudio cable included in the package, however, other third-party USB Type-C cables may be compatible too.

Battery level indicators

There are three LED-lights that indicate the respective batteries' remaining level. The charging case’s indicating light is on the front of the case, below the Sudio logo. The earbuds' indicating lights are below the touch control buttons. The color of LED lights changes depending on how much battery is left.

0% - 25% battery level: Yellow light is on
26% - 100% battery level : White light is on

Earbuds:
The LED lights on the earbuds indicate the remaining battery level of the earbuds. The LED lights up when you take them out of the charging case.

When you want to charge your earbuds, simply put them back into the charging case and make sure to check that the LED lights of both earbuds and the charging case start blinking.
You can also check the battery level more specifically on your device.
For iOS devices, you are able to see the battery status on the home screen widget. If you do not have the widget, you can edit home screen settings to add it.
For Android devices, you are able to see the battery icon on the screen, there is also a variety of third-party Android app for reading battery levels on connected devices.

Charging case:
The LED light on the charging case indicates the remaining battery level of the charging case. The LED light will blink when you put the earbuds back into the charging case.

Nio - User guide - Care and cleaning

Cleaning your earphones on a regular basis will ensure the best possible sound performance and prevent them from wearing out sooner than expected.

Use only a slightly damp cloth when cleaning the earbuds and/or case. You can also use a fine brush or cotton swab to gently clean inside the case, avoiding damage to the charging connectors (copper pins).

Psst, the Sudio Care Kit is ideal for regular maintenance and includes all the tools you need to keep your Sudio earphones in shape!

Do not use alcohol, abrasives, or chemicals other than water.

If, for example, you use cleaning wipes to clean Sudio Nio, they may stain the earphones or the case.

Nio - Features - Water Resistance Rating (IPX4)

Yp3s-Apg.jpeg

Sudio Nio is a device with a level 4 water protection rating, which means that the earbuds are water-resistant. At this level, the earbuds can handle heavy rain, sweat, and the occasional accidental splash.

IPX is an official third-party rating that is awarded through a series of tests. Sudio Nio is also completely sweat-proof and can be used during exercise.

However, for an IPX 4 rating, we would like to communicate that there is no guarantee that the earbuds will remain fully operational after activities like swimming or showering with them.

While the earbuds have IPX4 protection, the charging case is not waterproof. If you touch the charging case with wet hands or put the earbuds into the case while they are not completely dry, the product might be damaged. Please always make sure that earbuds are not wet when you put them back in the charging case. Unfortunately, if the earphones are damaged in these cases, they will not be considered a manufacturing defect and will not be eligible for replacement through our warranty.

Nio - FAQ - What do do if sound is only coming out from one earbud

If your earbuds say “pairing successful” but you can only hear sound from one side, this indicates that the earbuds are no longer paired together. In order to pair them again, please put back both earphones in the charging case, wait for 5 to 10 seconds and lift both at the same time. If this does not work, proceed with a factory reset

Nio - FAQ - What to do when Nio is behaving unexpectedly or not pairing

Nio - FAQ - What to do if neither earbuds nor case are charging

When both the earbuds and the charging case have no battery left, you first need to charge the charging case alone to a certain level in order to prevent Sudio Nio from rebooting in a loop. If the earphones are rebooting in a loop, they will not longer function properly.

To charge the earphones correctly, please follow the steps below.

  1. Remove the earbuds from the charging case.
  2. Plug the charging cable into the charging case, and let it charge for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Put the earphones back in the charging case, and let them charge.

Nio - FAQ - Can I use one earbud at a time?

dziatrVA.jpeg

Yes, you can use one Nio earbud on its own for both playback and calls. Both earbuds have the same components (speakers and microphones), which means that you can use either the left or right earbud at your leisure.

If you would like to use only one of the earbuds, you can do so by just taking out the one you want to use from the charging case.

It’s always a good idea to charge both earbuds until full after having used them separately to maintain the same battery levels.

Nio - FAQ - Does Nio support wireless charging?

No, Nio does not support wireless charging through Q1-technology or similar. Charge your Nio case by inserting a Type-C USB-cable and connecting it to either a USB-port or to a wall socket via an adapter.

We recommend using the Sudio cable included in the product packaging, however other third-party Type-C USB-cables may be compatible too.
